Export a process

You can export your process in a variety of formats.

  1. Click Export.
  2. The Export dialog displays.

  3. Use the text fields to define the version, author, changes made, and a enter a short description. All of these will be included in the exported documents.
  4. If you have exported the process before, the text fields will be populated with the information entered during the previous export.

  5. If you need to edit the export location, click the pencil icon next to the Export location field and browse to a new location.

  6. Export dialog. Change export location.

    You must select a valid folder on your local machine. If the destination folder has been moved or deleted, a warning displays.

  7. Select the file format from the following file types:
    • Capture process (.json) – Generates a JSON file.
    • ALM Process definition (.json) – Generates a JSON file that can be imported into Automation Lifecycle Management (ALM) to quickly create Process Definition Documents. See ALM- Process definitions.

    • Process Definition Document (.docx) – Generates a Word Docx file giving a complete, detailed overview of the process.
    • Blue Prism release (.bprelease) – Generates a skeleton of the process (and auto-generated business objects) in XML format, which can be imported into Blue Prism (v6.4 or newer).

    • Blue Prism business objects only (.bprelease) – Generates a JSON file containing business objects only. When imported into SS&C | Blue Prism® Blue Prism Enterprise, business objects are automatically placed in a new Capture folder in the Studio tab navigation tree. This option is only available when Show business objects is enabled in the Capture User settings.

    • Process map (.pdf) – Generates a PDF showing just a visual of the process map. This map reflects how the process displays in SS&C | Blue Prism® Capture.
    • Process map (.vsdx) Visio – Generates a Visio file showing just a visual of the process map. This map reflects how the process displays in Capture. You must have Microsoft Visio 2016 or later installed to use the Process map (.vsdx) export option.
    • Chorus BPM process (.bpmn) – Generates a business process management file that can be opened in Chorus BPM.
  8. Click Export.
  9. All exported files can be found in the defined export location.

When Solution Designer is enabled, the following export options are available:

  • Capture process (.json)
  • Blue Prism release (.bprelease)
  • Blue Prism business objects only (.bprelease)

All other export options relate to Capture processes created without the use of Solution Designer, and are not available for use with processes that have been created with the Solution Designer mode.
