Create a custom process template

You can use an existing SS&C | Blue Prism® Enterprise for BP Enterprise process as a custom process template to ensure that processes recorded in SS&C | Blue Prism® Capture are consistently displayed when opened in Blue Prism, and that all processes meet your company's requirements.

To create a custom process template:

  1. Prepare the process template in Blue Prism.
  2. Export process template from Blue Prism.
  3. Upload process template to Capture.

To use your custom process template:

  1. Record a new process in Capture.
  2. Export BPRELEASE file.
  3. Import BPRELEASE file to Blue Prism.

You can remove or replace a custom process template in the Custom process template section of the Export settings.

Prepare the process template in Blue Prism

There must be a page named Work in the process template. When a BPRELEASE file is exported using the process template, the exported process overwrites the Work page.

Any notes added to the process information in the original process template Work page are retained when the Work page is overwritten.

Export process template from Blue Prism

To export a process from Blue Prism to be used as a process template:

  1. Open the process that is going to be used as the new process template.
  2. Click File > Export > Release > New Package.
  3. Select Create an adhoc package for this release.
  4. Check that there is only one process in the package and click Next.
  5. The package must only contain a single process.

  6. Enter a name for the package and click Next.
  7. Enter any notes about the package and click Next.
  8. Enter an export location, or click Browse to navigate to an export location. Click Next.
  9. Click Finish.

The BPRELEASE file is ready to be uploaded to Capture.

Upload process template to Capture

To upload the process template to Capture and apply it to a new process:

  1. Navigate to the Custom process template section of the Export settings and click Choose a File.
  2. Browse to the exported BPRELEASE file on your computer and click Open.
  3. The uploaded BPRELEASE file name is displayed in the Custom process template section of the Export settings. The uploaded file is used as a process template and is applied to exported BPRELEASE files for new Capture processes.

Record a new process in Capture

Record a new process by following the steps in Capture a new process.

Export BPRELEASE file

The template process is only applied to the BPRELEASE export file type.

Export the process by following the steps in Export a process.

Before exporting, deselect any Create object checkboxes for any business objects that already exist in the process template. This prevents duplication of business objects in the BPRELEASE file exported from Capture. For example, if the process template contains a Microsoft Word object, deselect the Create object checkboxes for any step actions containing a Microsoft Word interaction. For more information about the Create object check boxes, see Create business objects.

Import BPRELEASE file to Blue Prism

To see the final result of your new process in the custom template process, import the BPRELEASE file to Blue Prism and open the process.

Import the process by following the steps in Import a BPRELEASE file into Blue Prism.

Remove or replace process template

To replace the process template with another BPRELEASE file, click Choose a file and select a new BPRELEASE file. When the new file displays, click Save and Close.

To remove a process template without replacing it, click Clear, then click Save and Close.
