Process alert configuration

This page describes how to amend the settings for process alerts. You may wish to read the Process alert overview first.

Configuration dialog

You can open the configuration dialog by clicking Configure Process Alerts from the options menu on the Security - Users screen, or from the context menu of the task tray icon (see Process alerts overview for more details). Only the current user's process alerts can be amended on the Security - Users screen, whereas a system administrator can amend the process alerts of any user if the configuration dialog is accessed from the context menu of the task tray icon.

Processes

A list of published processes displays in the Processes tab of the configuration dialog. Check the box beside each process for which you want to receive alerts.

Process alert types

You can choose to receive alerts when a variety of process-related events occur. To receive a particular alert type, check the appropriate box.

  • Pending – When a pending session is created.
  • Running – When a process starts.
  • Complete – When a process completes.
  • Stopped – When a process is stopped.
  • Stage – When a process reaches an alert stage.
  • Failed – When a process fails.

Schedules

A list of set up schedules displays in the Schedules tab of the configuration dialog. Check the box beside each schedule for which you want to receive alerts.

Schedule and task alert types

  • Started – Schedule/task started.
  • Completed – Schedule/task completed.
  • Terminated – When a session is terminated, due to an unhandled exception.

Notification methods

You can choose to receive one, more or all types of notifications. These apply to both processes and schedules.

  • Popup – A transient notification window which briefly appears at the corner of the screen.
  • Show History – The configuration window appears with the history tab focused, and remains on the screen until the user closes it.
  • Taskbar Icon – The icon in the windows task tray changes appearance, from a red bell (normal) to an orange bell (indicating that an alert has arrived). The details of the alert become visible when the user double clicks the icon.
  • Play Sound – Blue Prism will play a sound each time an alert is received. This is subject to the correct hardware being installed on your computer (including sound card and speakers) and the volume being audible.

Alert history

A history of process alerts is available in the History tab of the configuration dialog. The current day's alerts display by default and the user can navigate to previous days as required. A day of alerts can be exported and saved to an external file. The alert history will be maintained until the user archives the related session logs.

Unlike archived log data, alert history can not be restored once the session files have been archived.
