User configuration

Onboard users

Onboarding users depends on the authentication method used, either native or single sign-on (SSO).

  • For SSO users, a blank user account is created when the user first accesses the website with a successful authentication confirmation sent by the identity provider (IDP).

Active Directory or other Identity Provider integration can be configured for SSO using SAML 2.0. For more details, see SSO configuration.

  • For users using native authentication, the ‘Onboard Users with Password and Roles’ example process imported with the TrustPortal‑specific bp.release into Blue Prism is the recommended onboarding method.

Alternatively for users using native authentication, you can add users from the Users menu:

  1. Log into the web browser interface with an administrator account.
  2. Select Admin > Users.
  3. Click Add New User in the navigation menu.
  4. Enter a username in the form of an email address for the user and click Save.

An onboarding email with a sign-up token and URL will be sent to the email address provided.

Adding users via the user interface requires a valid email server to be configured for TrustPortal and is used for training purposes only.

Edit users

To configure the interface display for a user, click the user in the navigation menu and then navigate to the Configuration tab. This configuration overrides the application-wide configuration set up via Admin > Configuration.

Aspect

  • Background ImageURL of an image to be used as the banner of the Summary screen. The image must be in .png or .jpeg format.
  • Logo – URL of the logo to be used on the front-office user's Summary page. The image must be in .png or .jpeg format.

The background image and logo can be hidden if required by toggling off the appropriate sliders.

Polling

  • You can set polling times for products, messages, configuration, and actions.

User roles

There are two types of user roles in Service Assist:

  • Administrator role – Provides access to the admin user interface. Administrators can manage all actions in the web admin interface such as, add or delete users, reset passwords, assign roles, edit configurations and themes, and set up TrustPortal agents.
  • FrontOfficer role – Changes the default view to be more suitable to front office work and displays a more sophisticated front-office user interface with actions and tiles ribbons. If this is not assigned to a user, a simplified Summary page displays by default when the user logs in.

If using the ‘Onboard User with Password and Roles’ example process to set up a user, the ‘frontofficer’ role can be defined in the Roles parameter.

TrustPortal User Management (TPUM) module

The TrustPortal User Management (TPUM) module can be used to enhance the user management capabilities in Service Assist. TPUM uses the concept of virtual roles, which are completely customizable aliases for groups of users that can determine to which processes a user has access in the form of objects, for example tiles and their associated static form, if applicable.

The TPUM module needs to be installed separately from the Service Assist installer.

Delete users

The user deletion and deactivation process depends on the authentication method used:

  • For SSO users, simply remove the user from the access group and they will no longer be able to authenticate. You can re-grant access with no loss of data or permanently delete a user via a maintenance script.
  • Native authentication users can be deleted via the Users > Info tab in the admin interface or by removing their roles in the TPUM module.
