Task definition

Blue Prism Process Intelligence will represent uploaded logs as one long timeline. Before you can apply any of the analysis tools, you need to cut the logs by identifying the tasks.

  1. In the Tasks pane of the project homepage, click Let's start.
The Task Definition editor will open, displaying the recorded events. Click an event to see additional information for that event and its associated screenshot.
Above the list of event, log details are displayed. If you have uploaded multiple logs, you can navigate between their descriptions by clicking the arrows on the right and to the left of the details area.
  2. Identify tasks automatically or manually.
    1. To identify tasks automatically, click Show suggestions in the top right corner of the window. Blue Prism Process Intelligence will analyze the logs and identify recurring tasks, start and end events, and the number of similar tasks in the logs.

If you make any changes to a task (for example, if you modify its start or end event), you will be prompted to save the task as a custom task. To save the a modified task, specify a name and click Create.

    2. To identify tasks manually:

      1. Click to the right of the list of tasks.
      2. Enter a task name and save it.
      3. In the list of events, select the start event and click Set as start.
      4. In the list of events, select the start event and click Set as end.

At this stage, you can apply additional settings to the event:

        • Ignore event — The event will not be displayed in the tasks
        • Ignore application — No actions performed in the given application on the given site will be displayed in the tasks.

Clicking Show suggestions after creating custom tasks will not delete the custom tasks.

Click a task name in the list of tasks.
A window will open displaying the start and end events and additional functions.
        You can:

        • Rename a task
        • Delete a task
        • Specify a cutting mode for a task containing multiple start and end events
          • Last — The log will be cut at the last start event and at the last end event. This is selected by default.
          • First — The log will be cut at the first start event and at the first end event.
          • Loose — The log will be cut at the first start event and at the last end event.
          • Strict — The log will be cut at the last start event and at the first end event.
  3. Once tasks have been identified, click Apply and cut logs in the top right corner of the Task Definition editor.

When all the changes have been applied, the homepage of the task mining project opens.
