Advanced installation

Select which optional components to install:

  • Outlook automation – Installs the DLL required to use the Blue Prism Outlook Email VBO.
  • Google Sheets automation – Installs the APIs required to use the Blue Prism Google Sheets VBO.
  • Chrome browser extension – Applies the registry setting that instructs Chrome to add the Blue Prism browser extension, required if interacting with Chrome from Blue Prism. See Install the Blue Prism Chrome extension for more information.

  • Firefox browser extension – Applies the registry setting that instructs Firefox to add the Blue Prism browser extension. See Install the Blue Prism Firefox extension for more information.

    The Firefox browser extension is not available for installation with Blue Prism 6.10.6. The latest version of Blue Prism 6.10 that includes the Firefox extension is Blue Prism 6.10.5. For more information, see the Upgrade notices.

  • Edge browser extension – Applies the registry setting that instructs Edge to add the Blue Prism browser extension. See Install the Blue Prism Edge extension for more information.

The options available vary depending on your version of Blue Prism and which Manifest version they support:

Up to Blue Prism 6.10.4

The Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browser extensions can be installed as listed above, using Manifest V2.

Manifest V3 browser extension support via the Blue Prism Browser Automation Agent is available for Blue Prism versions 6.4.2 to 6.10.4.

Blue Prism 6.10.5 only

In Blue Prism 6.10.5, you can install either the Manifest V2 browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox (which correspond to the existing 6.10.4 browser extensions) or the new Manifest V3 browser extensions for Chrome and Edge introduced in Blue Prism 6.10.5. If you have not selected the Advanced install check box on the Install location screen, the Blue Prism 6.10.4 (Manifest V2) browser extensions will be installed by default for all browsers.

This is due to changes in Google's extensions platform and the move to Manifest V3 for the Chrome and Edge browsers. Firefox browser extensions still use Manifest V2 so are not affected. For more information, see the Google documentation and the Blue Prism 6.10.5 release notes.

Blue Prism 6.10.6 onwards

From Blue Prism 6.10.6 onwards, support for Manifest V2 browser extensions has been removed, so the Chrome and Edge browser extensions can no longer be installed using Manifest V2. Only Manifest V3 is supported from this version of 6.10 onwards.

The Firefox browser extension is not available for installation with Blue Prism 6.10.6. The latest version of Blue Prism 6.10 that includes the Firefox extension is Blue Prism 6.10.5. For more information, see the Upgrade notices.

In addition, the features provided by the Browser Automation Agent are now included in the Blue Prism 6.10.6 installer by default. The Blue Prism installation wizard automatically removes the Browser Automation Agent and the associated Manifest V3 browser extensions if they have been previously installed. If any Manifest V3 or V2 browser extensions were previously manually installed on a given machine, they will need to be manually uninstalled before installing Blue Prism.
