Description of change |

When converting a single-authentication Active Directory environment to a multi-authentication Active Directory environment, the administrator is now prompted to create a recovery administrator user that uses Blue Prism native authentication. This user can be removed once the database conversion has completed, however, it is recommended that it is retained for troubleshooting purposes, particularly in environments where all administrator accounts use multi-authentication Active Directory or external IdP (identity provider) authentication. Additionally, the database conversion from a single-authentication Active Directory environment to a multi-authentication Active Directory environment now completes successfully when the device requesting the change is connected using a .NET Remoting: Secure server connection mode. Previously, the database conversion only worked when using a secure WCF server connection mode. |

The Blue Prism interactive client user interface and the online product help are now available in Latin American Spanish. The Blue Prism user interface and online help are automatically presented in the operating system’s configured locale. Alternatively, the required language can also be selected on the Blue Prism login screen. As part of this enhancement, public holidays for Mexico are now available in calendars by selecting the required region in the System > Calendar settings. |
BP-1432 BP-1710 |
A number of enhancements have been made when using the SAP spy mode to automate a tree view in a SAP application:
|
BP-1374 BP-1375 BP-635 BP-637 BP-609
|
The Create Object/Process Wizard now provides the option to open the newly created item. Previously, users had to navigate the tree and manually open the object or process after creation. |
BP-1362 |
When saving a new or existing schedule on the System > System - Scheduler screen, all scheduler tasks in the schedule configuration are now checked to see if the schedule could enter into an infinite loop. If a loop is detected, a warning message displays asking the user whether or not they want to continue. The user can either click Yes and save the schedule, or click No and amend the schedule. |
BP-1288 |
An update has been applied to the scheduler mechanism so that it is now able to remove failed sessions. Previously where a communication issue prevented the scheduler from instructing the runtime resource to start a created session, these sessions would remain in a pending state. |
BP-657 |
A new Global Mouse Hover action has been added to Navigate stages to support interaction with web page elements in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox that cannot be automated via the Hover action introduced in Blue Prism 6.9. The Global Mouse Hover action physically moves the mouse to the center of the selected element, provided that the element is in view on the screen and that the browser instance is active. |
BP-1549 |
Audit logs have been enhanced to include the unique IDs of all selected queue items in the audit record, when marking multiple queue items in Control Room. For example, exceptions, deleting multiple queue items, or retrying multiple queue items. The list of item IDs in the record is limited to 20. If more than 20 items are selected at a time, additional audit records are created. For example, if 22 items are selected, the first record will contain 20 item IDs and a second record will contain the remaining two. The records are stored against the action and the Queue ID. |
BP-936 |
Information on the hostname and IP address of remote connections to the runtime resource is now consistently displayed in the session variables and NLog logs through use of reverse DNS (where available). |
BP-1424 |
A new Decipher IDP column in the Installed Licenses table on the System - License screen now indicates whether the license enables Decipher IDP functionality. |
BP-1309 |
The expanded or collapsed state of folders in the Studio navigation tree are now retained for the next time the user navigates to Studio. See Blue Prism 6.10 Known Issues on the customer portal for details of BP-2452 and the recommended fix, which relates to this enhancement. |

When a single environment is configured with multiple application servers which have scheduling enabled, if multiple application servers attempt to execute the same schedule, one server takes the schedule and it is skipped on the other servers. This is now logged as information on the application server that has skipped the schedule. Previously, a Unique Key constraint error was logged in the scenario when a second server correctly failed to start a duplicate schedule. To capture and view these log messages, the Server.NLog.Config file must be updated to record messages at the Info level: |
BP-913 (US-2659) |
The following performance improvements have been made to the Resources tree view in Control Room when displaying high volumes of resources:
|
BP-61 (BG-7635) BP-599 (BG-7563) |
To improve performance of the Active Queues area in Control Room:
|
BP-1383 BP-1382 |
A performance issue has been fixed where a pending connection between the Blue Prism interactive client and a runtime resource could not be established because of the processing of pending messages for an already established connection. These tasks are now processed in parallel instead of in sequence so the issue no longer occurs. |
BP-1339 (BG-7537) |
Business objects created prior to 6.9 now display validation warnings rather than errors when using the following stage and action/condition combinations without a tracking ID configured:
Users can resolve the warnings by clicking the Repair All button. Once the repair has completed, a tracking ID parameter is added to the actions/conditions for the user to set if required, and the validation warnings no longer display. Tracking ID was added as an optional parameter to various stages in Blue Prism 6.9 to allow users to restrict spying to a specific browser window when browser instances of the same type are available. Using actions such as Detach and Terminate without a tracking ID will attempt to perform the action on all open instances of the browser rather than targeting a specific instance. |
BP-1668 (BP-1502) |
When creating or modifying a release package, the option to select dependencies now displays all relevant direct and indirect components. Previously, the list only displayed those directly referenced. Only components to which the user has access will display. Additionally, new Apply Changes and Cancel buttons are available when using the Select Dependencies feature. |
BP-1295 BP-1464 |
Users can now edit an expression directly on the Expression Test Wizard window which displays when clicking the Evaluate Expression button in a stage property window. The expression in the stage property window will be refreshed once the edits have been made. Previously, users could only enter test values into the Expression Test Wizard window and had to return to the stage property window to make the actual changes to the expression. |
BP-1410 |
The search term and date range used when performing a search in System > Audit - Audit Logs now displays at the top of the search results so users can clearly identify the filter that is currently applied. |
BP-1361 |
In System > Resources - Management, it is now possible to retire multiple resources (or groups of resources) at the same time. When retiring groups of resources, all resources within the group will be moved into the retired resources pane but the folders in which the resources were located previously will be retained as empty folders. |
BP-1368 |
Users can now identify which runtime resources are connected to which application server at start up without having to log into each of the runtime resources. The name of the application server to which a runtime resource is connected and the port on which it is running now display in the Environment Summary system report (System > Reporting > Environment Summary > Generate report). The system setting Save environment data for clients, runtime resources and servers to the database must be enabled for this information to be recorded and populated in the Environment Summary system report. |
BP-792 |
To prevent accidental deletion, users are now asked to confirm before deleting a Blue Prism server custom configuration. |
BP-1411 |
To improve performance, when opening a process or object in Process and Object Studio only the names of available environment variables are loaded and cached locally. Further details are only loaded for environment variables referenced in the process or object. Previously, when opening a process or object in Process and Object Studio, all details for all available environment variables were loaded into memory. If an environment variable has been deleted since the process or object was loaded, users are notified via an error message and the environment variable is removed from the selection list. On refresh, only the environment variables referenced in the process or object, and the names of available environment variables are reloaded. |
BP-1229 |
Field names in complex nested collections now correctly display as the column headings on the Initial Values tab of the Collection properties dialog. Previously, navigating within such collections could lead to column headings not displaying, preventing users from adding data to new rows. |
BP-589 (BG-7470) |
An about:blank URL is now opened when no start page URL has been provided as part of an application model and the Use fixed browser extension port (31294) only option has not been selected in System - Settings. Previously when using the Application Modeller to launch a browser-based application in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, the browser extension did not successfully establish a connection with Blue Prism if a start page URL had not been specified and the Use fixed browser extension port (31924) only option was not selected in System - Settings. |
BP-1408 |
Previously, when attempting to open an exported work queue log file using Excel 2003, an error message incorrectly identified the log file as a SYLK (Symbolic Link) file. This occurred when the log file contained references to "ID" in the column names. Any ID reference now displays as "Id" throughout the log files so the issue no longer occurs. |
BP-1636 |
A Windows application event log is no longer incorrectly created when an interactive client running on Windows 7 closes. Previously, a null tree reference incorrectly triggered the intermittent creation of an Object reference not set to an instance of an object error log. |
BP-612 (BG-7615) |
When displaying the Resources tree view in Control Room, the interactive client no longer attempts to connect to active private runtime resources that do not belong to the current user. Previously, connections were incorrectly attempted to all active private runtime resources, regardless of ownership. All active private runtime resources continue to be visible in the tree view, depending on permissions as per existing behavior, and connections will still be attempted to private runtime resources belonging to the current user. |
BP-1237 |
Font size information is now correctly saved, regardless of whether the font color has changed when editing a process or business object in Process and Object Studio. Previously, if the font size of a stage name was changed but not the font color, the new font size was not saved. |
BP-1460 |
Users are no longer prompted to save their changes a second time after they have indicated that changes should be canceled on the following screens, and have navigated away from the tab or signed out of Blue Prism:
|
BP-603 BP-604 BP-605 (BG-7587) |
Processes containing a Navigate stage with a Verify action that has the Highlight input parameter set to True now run successfully. Previously in this scenario, the process could potentially lock on the Navigate stage and enter a warning state. This issue affected processes started from Control Room only and did not impact processes that were started from Process Studio. |
BP-625 (BG-7663) |
An issue has been fixed where sessions that had been executed by the Scheduler were not returned in the search results when filtered by [Scheduler] in the User drop-down in Control Room. | BP-1815 |
The stability of the connection between the application server and the runtime resource has been improved so that the runtime resource no longer throws an unhandled exception when the connection is broken whilst communicating. An error is now logged in the Windows Event Viewer for the runtime resource. | BP-1712 |
The Blue Prism application server is now responsible for generating the audit event log entry when configuration changes are applied to the Archiving mode. Previously, it was generated by the interactive client and was susceptible to being suppressed. |
BP-1264 |
If an interactive client fails to establish a connection with a runtime resource due to the use of an invalid SSL certificate, the resource now closes the connection. Previously, some active connections remained open, which resulted in multiple unused active connections. |
BP-1430 |
In the Session Log Viewer, accessed from Control Room, users can now search when using the List view type. Previously, an error incorrectly displayed when a user entered a search term when using the list view. |
BP-622 (BG-7657) |
The number of locked items in each work queue is now stored in a new column called locked, which has been added to the BPAWorkQueueItemAggregate table. This is preparatory work for use in a future release, the statistics displayed for work queues are unchanged in this release. |
BP-1445 |
The following improvements have been made to the BPDiagnostics tool, accessed from the Blue Prism Automate folder C:\Program Files\Blue Prism Limited\Blue Prism Automate\BPDiagnostics.exe:
|
BP-543 (BG-6797) BP-195 (BG-2090) |
An issue with Blue Prism interactive client accessibility elements displaying incorrectly has been addressed. Previously, hovering the mouse over a text box that was already selected (yellow border) incorrectly changed to the mouseover state (blue highlight). |
BP-590 (BG-7505) |

The following changes to Data Gateways engine are introduced with this version. The functionality is included in the Data Gateways engine version 1.3, available on the Blue Prism Portal – select Product > Blue Prism Enterprise > Extras.
Description of change |
Reference |
---|---|
A new version of the Data Gateways engine, version 1.3, containing an updated version of Logstash, is now available. Logstash 6.6.1 includes a number of fixes and enhancements, such as improved security. For customers utilizing Data Gateways the engine must be upgraded to version 1.3. Previous versions of Data Gateways are not supported with this version of Blue Prism. |
BP-1233 |

A number of Visual Business Objects (VBOs) are provided in the Blue Prism release – new or updated VBOs are listed below. Changes within VBOs are only applied when a VBO is explicitly imported into the environment.
We attempt to avoid any changes in the behavior of VBOs, however, we advise users to re-verify functionality to ensure compatibility between versions.
Object – MS Excel VBO
Description of change |
Reference |
---|---|
A new Fetch Data With Method input parameter has been added to the Get Worksheet As Collection action in the MS Excel VBO, which enables you to control the method used to read data from the worksheet. The options are:
If Fetch Data With Method is not defined, Value is used. This is the method used in previous versions of Blue Prism. This action input parameter is not available in the Get Worksheet As Collection (Fast) action; all data is captured using the Value method. |
BP-621 (BG-7651) |
Object – Calendars VBO
Description of change |
Reference |
---|---|
An update has been made to the Calendars VBO so that it no longer periodically checks for updated Schedule and Calendar information. Previously, if the Calendars VBO was referenced by a running process, the VBO erroneously checked for updated schedule configuration information every 10 seconds. When Calendar information was updated, Scheduled configuration edited, or the ‘Run Now’ function invoked on a schedule. there was potential for this to adversely effect the application server(s). Changes made to the calendar information such as via the System > System - Calendar screen are no longer applied during a currently running session. If a session is running, the changes will be applied at the start of the next session run. Previously, updates made to this screen were applied immediately, which resulted in potentiality inconsistent behavior caused by different data being returned mid-process. |
